  • When should I be booking the State Room for my wedding?

    Typically weddings are booked up to 18 months in advance. Certain times of the year such as peak wedding season and holidays book up faster so it's best to contact the State Room as soon as possible to inquire about availability.

  • how many guests can the state room accomodate, is there a mandatory guest count?

    There are two main areas that are used for weddings at the State Room:

    The Great Room

    The Great Room has a maximum capacity of 500 guests. This makes it the perfect space for larger weddings. Typically there is a minimum guest count of 125 guests.

    The Mezzanine Level

    The Mezzanine has a maximum capacity of 150. This makes it the perfect space for more intimate weddings with a smaller guest list. Typically there is a minimum guest count of 75 guests.

  • WHAT ARE THE PRICING PACKAGES FOR THE STATE ROOM WEDDINGS AND WHAT IS INCLUDED?

    Signature Wedding Package

    The Signature Package includes a five hour event, premium bar service, plated dinner and a wedding cake. Prices start at $220 per person.

    Platinum Wedding Package

    The Platinum Package includes a five hour event, premium bar service, plated dinner, wedding cake and room enhancements such as uplighting and custom linen.

    Diamond Wedding Package

    The Diamond Package includes a five hour event, premium bar service, plated dinner, wedding cake and room enhancements such as uplighting, custom linen, photo booth and evening snacks.

    Custom Wedding Package

    A custom wedding package can also be created for the couple that meets their paticular needs and budget. Off-season discounts are available during weekdays and winter months. Pricing varies based on the type of event, the number of guests, and other services.

  • what is the design style, and what State Room weddings work well for the space?

    The State Room is a modern, contemporary event space. The venue truly incorporates the Boston Harbor landscape. The interior design of the State Room features a minimalist color palette of white, grey and black. The open floor plan with high ceilings and expansive windows creates a gorgeous atmosphere for your wedding.

  • do they require certain vendors?

    The State Room does not require certain vendors for weddings and other events. However they do require that all professional vendors are preapproved and must provide proof of insurance.

  • are there any restrictions regarding the type of decorations or floral arrangements that you can use at the state room?

    The State Room does allow hanging floral arrangements, but there are some restrictions regarding the type and size of hanging arrangements that can be used. The State Room does not allow the use of confetti, glitter, or loose rose petals.

    There is a noise limit at the State Room where a sound system is installed that is designed to ensure that noise levels do not exceed a certain limit.

  • what time frame is the state room available for set-up and cleanup / teardown for a wedding?

    Typically you are allowed access for set-up and decoration of your wedding on the day of your event, as well as the day before the event if the venue is available. Generally the State Room allows a maximum of one hour for event teardown and cleanup.

  • is the state room wheelchair accessible and are there any special accomodations?

    The State Room provides accessible entrances, elevators and restrooms to accomodate guests with mobility imparments.

  • does the state room have a dressing room or bridal suite for getting ready?

    Wedding bridal parties can get ready in a small room off the balcony of the State Room. There is no formal bridal suite.

  • what outdoor or alternative spaces does the state room offer for cocktail hour or the wedding ceremony?

    The State Room does not have any outdoor spaces.

    For cocktail hour there are many options. You can have this in the Great Room, in the same spot as your weddding reception. You can also choose the Mezzanine as more intimate space for cocktail hour, this space has a built in bar and lounge area. If you are looking for a more casual cocktail hour you can consider the State Room Lounge, with more comfortable seating and a full bar.

    In terms of wedding ceremonies the Great Room is the most popular option. If you are having a more intimate, smaller ceremony you could have this on Mezzanine, overlooking the Great Room.

  • what is the parking options for this venue?

    Parking can be challenging at the State Room. Valet parking is available for guests and can accomodate up to 400 cars. There are also several garages located conveniently to the venue. Some garages that are close by include the Garage at Post Office Square, the Government Center garage and the Dock Square Parking Garage. Street parking can be hit or miss, so its best for guests not to count on this.

  • Does the State Room have a coordinator or wedding planner to assist with the planning process?

    Yes, the State Room has a team of event coordinators and planners to help with planning your State Room wedding and following through on its execution. The event coordinator will assist with selecting the appropriate event space, coordinating with vendors, creating a floor plan and managing your wedding timeline.

  • what is the policy on serving alcohol, are there any restrictions?

    The State Room, and all other Longwood venues do allow an open bar with great servuice from the staff. There is a strict policy at the State Room against serving guests that appear to be visibly intoxicated. Event staff monitor guests' consumption. Typically they stop serving alcohol at least 30 minutes prior to the end of an event. Outside food and beverages are not allowed at the State Room.

  • is there a preferred timeline for State Room weddings?

    Although there is no official timeline for the State Room, you definitely want your guests to get the amazing experience of enjoying the Boston waterfront views to their full potential. That's why I would recommend your event starting with at least a good hour of daylight.

  • what is the state room's inclement weather policy?

    In the event of inclement weather the State Room follows recommendations from the City of Boston's emergency response and the National Weather Service. If the City of Boston states there is an emergency the event will be canceled. If weather is a concern Longwood venues will work with you to make a decision about whether you will need to cancel or reschedule the event.

  • does the state room have specific guidelines around photography and videography?

    Longwood Venues request that photographers and guests refrain from using flash photography during important moments to avoid distracting other guests. The use of drones is not allowed.

With bistro lights strung and champagne poured in flutes the State Room was ready and waiting for the wedding guests to arrive. We loved the tabletop details of their gold flatware provided by Sparrow Lane, among the beautiful peachy florals from Beach Plum Floral. And who can resist the Boston skyline views from the expansive State Room windows. Just steps away from the waterfront your guests will be blown away.

Incorporating many Greek traditions, the couple made their wedding day truly special. Family and guests joined the couple on the dance floor for the wedding dollar dance. This is a playful dance between the couple where guests will throw money as a way to give good fortune to the newlyweds. Then came the traditional Greek sirtaki dance, circling the dance floor arm to arm. This State Room wedding did not disappoint!
